Curated by Matthew D. Davids, administrator of art collections
As Oklahoma’s fall seems to have turned into winter abruptly, NBC Oklahoma’s new exhibit features artwork that depicts the “Changing of The Seasons.”
The theme also serves to introduce a new art season at NBC – NBC’s new administrator of art collections, Matthew D. Davids, who will be curating new exhibits and managing the bank’s extensive art collection, primarily focused on western art and Oklahoma artists.
The show includes 18 paintings that depict scenes from all four seasons, including blue skies, storms, desert landscapes and changing leaves.
The show’s artists include:
Catherine Freshley, who paints the sweeping skies and landscapes familiar to Oklahomans. Currently living in Wichita, Kan., Freshley had a solo exhibition last year at Wigwam Art Gallery when she lived in Enid.
David Holland, an Oklahoma City artist who has been called “the cloud guy” and paints cloudscapes that often depict thunderstorms.
Carol Beesley, a Norman artist whose work “The Bluff, Johnson Ranch Near Guymon, OK” was the 2014 NBC Oklahoma Artist Series painting.
Other artist include:
Sue Messerly
Jeff Dodd
Wilson Hurley
Martin Cornelius Hullender
Curt Walters
Rick McClure
Robert Peters
Newton Wes
Joe Andoe
Jimmy W. Lane
Davids has lived in Oklahoma since 2011, graduating in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and a minor in history from Oklahoma Baptist University and a master’s degree in 2018 in museum studies from the University of Oklahoma. He has interned at the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art in Shawnee and volunteered with a few archaeological digs. Hobbies include photography and blacksmithing.
