Curated by Aaron Moses, administrator of art collections
The Mopope show is an exhibition of flat style paintings by the famous 20th century Kiowa artist Stephen Mopope — a member of the painter’s group called the Kiowa Six whose work helped to popularize Native North American art in the international art world. These particular paintings were initially purchased from the artist for the collection of the Bar-T ranch in Arizona. They display a variety of scenes related to the dances, regalia, and music of the early 20th century Powwow circuit.
